Before I do something I’ll regret, can we still download and install stuff from the Store without getting that new Origin/Launcher patch?
I just want the frikkin Boxing Gloves, but I’ll be DARNED if I click it and wind up updating my game and break my Launcher Bypass just to get it. >_<

to people on the forums, yes, you can still get stire store things
without the patch. (Avoid if it you can. It forces Origin to load, and
it randomly unchecks/disables all your expansions so you have to
remember to recheck them every time.)

Yup!
Just don’t open Origin and don’t download the patch from the launcher.
It should ask for permission, just deny it and turn off the automatic
updater in the side tab. I’m still able to download stuff from the store
and I don’t have the patch

It’s not even your fault – who expected EA to come from out of nowhere with a TS3 Patch after two YEARS of ignoring TS3 for TS4? The game still has glitches and bugs going all the way back to the base game and World Adventures that need fixing….and yet they update the Launcher and break CAW. T_T Really EA? Really?

Somehow,
EA has found MANY ways to get the patch into your game.
Installing/reinstalling through Origin- Boom new patch. Install with
discs- bam, you GET THE NEWEST PATCH. I don’t think downloading the
boxing gloves will download the new patch, but.
Omg, DARN, I was wondering if buying the Disc versions of the games rather than getting them digitally would let me circumnavigate the whole Origin thing – CRAP! There are Stuff Packs I was planning on getting once the price dipped again! GRRR! Oh well. 😛

Hhhhmmm if you change the name of your Sims three file….then do a
factory reset before downloading anything ….download store stuff into
the new Sims 3 folder…..then move that stuff to your existing game….that
should be safe.
Its easier to just install everything as a Package file.
The thing about the Store that SUCKS is that you HAVE to download everything via the Launcher. WHY? WHY? By that point I just install it via the Launcher, but it’s really FAR less of a hassle to just convert everything to package files, decrappify it, and dump it in the Mods/Packages folder. Boo ya!

you can definitely download from the Store without it updating so long
as you have autoupdate off on Origin. The store doesn’t update when you
download or install from it.
I am so mad that this happened. I can’t even LOG ON to Origin anymore, because I’m not updated. Omg..
