Someone’s an EA HATER.  …… IKR.  Get in line.  xD

Nah, I love EA, honest! They know I’m only mean because I hate them. ^_^

Since EA only sells ONE brand, the only thing they could advertise in terms of games are THEIR GAMES, which as we all goddamn well know are distilled, crystalline garbage. The better answer here however is: what good does EA do for itself by advertising its own garbage?  Where’s the money to be made?  EA ain’t gonna pay itself to send you an ad.  NO!  Third-party advertisements! Third party pays EA a hefty sum to push its shit through your monitor!  Any ol’ ad.  Just shove that shit right on through.  We’ll take your firstborn son while you’re at it.

Yeah, I suppose.

Okay…COMPUTER ADS then! *shakes fist* Cram Windows 10 promos down my throat. I’d put up with that more than the same old Windex commercials, jeeze.

It was more,

“I don’t really mind the ads because the free content is nice, but I wish the written language was in Simlish.”

Omg that would be perfect.

Why. WHY would EA do that? 😛 That’s like putting the ads in Klingon. Omg people are great.

1. If each piece is part of a set, and you’re buying each piece at a discount, eventually the entire set will be dirt cheap OR completely free if you own enough of it.  xD

TRUE. That was the best addition they made at the Store (how lovely that it came at like the last minute, in the last year of TS3 activity before TS4 came out :P). Having that calculator to make the set free if you owned a big enough percent of the individual items was sweet vindication; I can’t tell you how much stuff I got for free after that, I was a frikkin bandit on that freebie train.

Reading about that Dove Soap in Sims Social was so frikkin random that I just laughed. REALLY, EA? Dove? Out of all the businesses to team up with….the “Care & Repair with Dove Hair Therapy shower” premium item. Wow. No wonder Sims Social was a bust. 😛

After all, it’s much harder to work a bottle of shampoo into a game that’s set in the forest or at a poker table. But when a game is about sleeping, eating microwave dinners or taking showers, that sort of product placement becomes much easier.

Four Types of Advertising Are Emerging in Social Games, EA Says

Games put in all sorts of pop culture references and easter eggs all the freaking time, so that was a weak freaking excuse. Passing conversations with NPCs, song lyrics, anachronistic/vintage/foreshadowing signage or brands or neighborhood bulletin boards, the names of weapons and items….all kinds of stuff throws in nods to free advertisement of other products. Final Fantasy’s great at it and makes it cute. EA just takes it freaking overboard, putting more effort into pitching some celebrity endorsed crap than fixing its own busted patches.

Madden said EA’s calendar is currently booked for 10 to 11 months out of the year. Other brands that have appeared in The Sims Social are Dunkin Donuts, Wendy’s and Toyota.

I remember EA having a Branded Section at the Store that had wall art for Lil’ Wayne and I think Britney Spears and KISS at one point, and then there was the Fanta Drink fridges and Tshirts and patterns (which was all ugly af), and a bunch of other lame stuff, before we finally got the really cool Eco-Friendly set with the Toyota hybrid cars and solar panels and stuff, which is some of my favorite stuff from the Store, I’ll be honest. The Iams stuff for Pets was really lackluster and lazy in comparison, EA could have done a bunch more with that. But that was around the time that the Pets Patch of Doom broke all the CC slot rigging anyways, so…pfft

If the content is done WELL, I say advertise away! I would have loved a walk-in Wendy’s or Dunkin Donuts community lot restaurant at the Store. WAY more than the garbage they had everyone scrambling for with the Katy Perry crap in the old simpoint Mystery Bundles or the Showtime EP & KPST waste of time.

Ohhhh my god and then there was the Dr Pepper and T-mobile content, which was SO HARD to get; it was so unfair. 😦 I think we had to redeem codes on Dr Pepper bottle caps to get all that stuff. I HATE Dr Pepper. The T-Mobile stuff was easier to get; we had to go to the TMobile website or something, and you could only click a few items a day or something.

They had really nice stuff in both of those promos. It was so stupid though, because after the promo was done and the content was removed people still wanted the content, and pirated it all anyway at 3rd party sites, not giving a crap about the brands behind them. XD
