Last night for like no good reason my current External HDD (which had been acting up on me for like a month) finally went kaput. (It says it malfunctioned and is no longer recognized on my pc; device descriptor request failed. Basically: it’s just not working.).
It was a replacement I got last year to back up stuff from my older HDD, that for some reason stopped working on my laptop, but strangely enough still works on my desktop. IDEK.
But yeah, today I had to spend money I can’t even afford to be spending – there goes my lunch money for the rest of the semester! – just to get a new external drive, so I can back up the old drive (again).
But even with the old drive, I still lost everything from the past year:
- a good chunk of my most recent schoolwork and programs
- an EFFTON of movies and videos
- and ALL of my simming gameplay swapping files (not the actual saves or my CC DLs, thank god, but all of my organized package file folders)
We’re talking 400+GB of data here, that I can no longer access.
I called like 5 data repair places (cuz eff the Geek Squad, those extortionists. Eff them with a rusted spear!), and while the rates weren’t as bad as effing Best Buy’s Geek Scum, it’s all still way more than I can afford. $300-$1k is enough to but several new computers, and dozens of External HDDs, wtf!?
Who’s not in a good mood?
