Y’all were super super sweet to me about the Mononoke anime gameplay pics I posted, I’m so happy y’all liked my little foray into using gifs and such. (I’d be lying if I said I had a good time making them, but I did have fun in-game, and reading the comments. 2/3 ain’t bad! :D)

So cool the edit❤️.❤️
Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales/Mononoke is a really cool anime, with one of the best/most unique art styles I’ve ever seen, so I really wanted to capture a little of ASHT’s essence.
I’m glad y’all enjoyed the pics!!!
🙂

I love this screen reveal effect you’ve been
doing. Stunning pix..especially the trippy cat-face one
The trippy cat-face one was made using the
Zoom Animate script here. It’s one of hundreds of effects you can achieve in GIMP by downloading different scripts, which go in the Scripts folder in your install directory.
You literally just open an image in GIMP, Duplicate it in a second layer, and go to the new menu ScriptFu > Zoom Animate. To test it go to the Filters menu > Animation > Playback > Play. To save it as a gif go to File menu > Export As > yadayada.gif, and make sure the boxes are ticked that says As Animation and Loop Forever. Viola!

Wow!!!!! This is amazing – and it totally
captured me with the screen doors opening. Magnificent job!
simblu reblogged your photoset and added:
Fun fact: unlike the Zoom Animate, the sliding screen effect I made myself. ^_^

I took a still screenshot directly from the anime of the doors while closed. I opened the image as a Layer in GIMP, Duplicated the layer 3 times, and manually Moved each door in each layer in increments, to give the illusion that it was opening/closing, frame by frame. You add more or less duplicate frames to make the sliding effect faster or slower. Then I added the “Reveal” image I wanted to use (the screenie of my lot, or whatever) at the bottom of the layer list, since it’s the image hiding behind the doors. I exported it as a gif, and viola!

I used the same Duplicate layer increment steps when making the fade-to-white and fade-to-gold effects here, and the flashing ofuda talismans here. Instead of gradual sliding door frames, I made duplicate frames with varying levels of brightness on a gold or white foreground.

Took me bloody forever to figure it all out though! 😛

My word!!! You captured it perfectly, the moment
when the bakeneko changed – and the work on the glowing gifs! ART
MASTERY! Shame you won’t be making more Gifs though because these were
superb and really gave a great sense of drama and adventure! Awesome job
It means a lot that you liked them, cuz you’re the one who inspired me to use gifs in the first place! XD I started following you cuz I really like your unique style of medieval gameplay, and your use of original gifs and videos in so many of your posts (bless you, I can’t imagine the time it must take to get all that together, omg).

I love him in the last gif. That makeup looks so great ❤️
Thanks so much! It’s imperfect though, because messing with the eyebrow sliders in CAS ruins the round shape of the third eye circle on the forehead (darn over-complicated UV Mapping, grrr), but I’m 90% satisfied, whatever. 😛

(I feel a little bad cuz I got a few asks about Taima’s makeup, and I don’t want y’all getting your hopes up – it’s a tad flawed, but I’m lazy.)

Barring any unforeseen hijinks the ASHT Inspired Collection will be uploaded 2/17/18, the day after Lunar New Year (I have another set I’ll be uploading that Friday).
Stay tuned!
